How to Enjoy Calculus Eli S. Pine

The rest was repeatedly plugging the numbers into a program I made (I tried writing a python script for the first time) and writing them down. However I DO know and love statistics–I just took a grad class in Stat and thoroughly enjoyed it. EVERYTHING (almost) in ALL those courses comes back to haunt you in calculus! History 1-A (beginnings to Civil War) and 1-B (Reconstruction to Present) in either order. Leviticus computes about as well with me as calculus. So I need to correct my calculus by factoring in probability. I think I'm smart, but moments like this make me feel pretty dumb. Full disclosure: I teach AP Calculus and I've never taught AP Statistics. For the one with an unprepared mind, Vedanta is like calculus for a person who is learning basic mathematics. The calculus was certainly worth-while, but that was only like a quarter of the work. Apparently putting the two together in a drink was like calculus to my brain. I'm just going to say it: I'm not all that keen on reading Leviticus in the Bible. It's not like, say, History, where you can take U. In fact, the need to avoid nasty calculations (for lack of a computer) has often driven discovery, leading mathematicians to find elegant symbolic techniques like calculus. But I wouldn't want to teach it to high school students. If I told my Calculus teacher that Calculus was my favorite class, she would be shocked. And sometimes I have bad experiences and don't enjoy the taste. Sometimes there's a long line at the drive-thru. In case you haven't seen it, I made a song parody about some of the basic derivatives rules in Calculus to the tune of Ceelo's "Forget you." Enjoy! It's possible I won't be that satisfied by my Taco Bell. And the students seem to enjoy it. I offered my calculus students bonus points to write a limerick or haiku on their final exam.
